Welcome to the web site of Prospect Baptist Church!
Prospect Baptist Church has been ministering to the spiritual needs of its community since 1848. In the earliest years Prospect was a Primitive Baptist Church. A few years later we because associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, and are still a cooperating Southern Baptist church today. In the early days the church consisted of a one-room log building. Even later finances were so difficult that the church members raised a field of cotton to meet the expenses.
We praise God for our long and rich heritage, but while we remember our past, our focus is on the future. Therefore we offer a wide range of programs and opportunities. We strive to not only be a church ‘where everybody is somebody,’ but to offer ‘something for everybody’ as well. The details of some of these can be found on this web site.
However, in these programs and opportunities we never want to lose sight of our primary purpose as stated by our Lord: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” Matt. 28:19-20. We believe that one of the primary means of carry out the mandate of Jesus is through the proclamation of His word in everything we do.
